FSSAI Registration

FSSAI stands for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It is an autonomous body that comes under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The FSSAI is responsible for regulating and supervising the food safety standards in India.

FSSAI registration is mandatory for all entities involved in the food business, including food manufacturers, processors, packers, distributors, retailers, food vending agencies, and food importers/exporters. The FSSAI registration process involves the following steps:

  1. Application for FSSAI Registration: The first step is to fill out the FSSAI registration application form. This form can be downloaded from the FSSAI website or obtained from the local FSSAI office.

  2. Submission of Documents: The next step is to submit the necessary documents along with the FSSAI registration application form. The documents required may vary depending on the type of food business. However, some common documents required for FSSAI registration include:

    a. Identity proof of the applicant (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.) b. Address proof of the applicant (such as utility bills, rental agreement, etc.) c. Proof of business premises (such as property papers, rental agreement, etc.) d. List of food products to be manufactured/processed/packed/distributed/sold e. Food safety management system plan f. Details of machinery and equipment used for food processing g. List of directors/partners/proprietors of the company h. Partnership deed/ MOA and AOA of the company i. Bank account statement of the company j. Other documents as required by the FSSAI

  3. Inspection: Once the FSSAI registration application and necessary documents are submitted, an inspection of the premises is conducted by the FSSAI officials.

  4. FSSAI Registration Certificate: After successful inspection, the FSSAI registration certificate is issued to the applicant.

The FSSAI registration certificate is valid for a period of 1-5 years, depending on the category of the food business. It is advisable to renew the FSSAI registration certificate before it expires to avoid any legal hassles.
